Steve Ruzin is a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He is the Director of the Biological Imaging Facility and has been teaching microtechnique at Berkeley since 1990. His book, Plant Microtechnique and Microscopy (Oxford University Press) is the leading text in the field. Steve is also the Curator of the Golub Microscope Collection at UC Berkeley.

Instructors

Denise Schichnes received her PhD also from UC Berkeley. She is a maize geneticist, and presently is a Staff Research Associate in the Biological Imaging Facility. She co-teaches Plant & Animal Microtechnique.

Dr. Schichnes is an expert in microtechnique. Here she is instructing a student in the fine art of sectioning paraffin blocks.
